Foster Youth Exhibition in Tokyo (March 2026), in Oakland (October 2026) and in Nagoya (February 2027)
Update!
At the US-Japan Youth Summit in March 2026, IFCA team completed the second mural. The first and second murals were displayed for a week at the AWAZU House Art Center in Kawasaki City during the first week of June, 2026.
This project will go to the next city, Oakland, California, in October, 2026.
We are looking for individuals or organizations to support the “Foster Youth Exhibition” in the following two projects during the Japanese Youth Team’s visit to Oakland in October 2026:
- We are looking for a youth artist with lived foster care experience who would create a 7′ x 4′ paining on canvas with the theme, “Our Rights, Our Connections”. This painting created in Oakland will travel to the next exhibition city, Nagoya in February 2027, where there will be an international exhibition at a larger venue.
- We are looking for a smallexhibition space of 300 to 500 square feet where we can set up artwork from the two projects described above plus a TV monitor for projecting digital stories produced by youth for a week to 10 days.
◉All art and workshop materials for the projects (1) will be provided by IFCA. ◉ An honorarium will be paid to the artist who creates the canvas painting. Group productions are also welcome. ◉ Depending on conditions, our plan is to pay for the venue fees for the exhibition space described in item (2)
